In the spring of this year, Echospace man Rod Modell and fellow sonic explorers Walter Wasacz and Christopher McNamara headed to Armstrong's Lakeport Resort Campground in Michigan. Armed with high-end field recording equipment, a small mixing desk and some electronic instruments, the trio recorded an hour-long ambient exploration inspired by "strange lights glistening in the trees" and "the omnipresent pulse of Mother Earth". As you'd expect, Summer Cottage Music is an impeccably atmospheric affair, with Modell's usual meditative chord progressions and drifting sonic textures gently rising above the sound of chirping cicadas, spring drizzle and the delicate sound of thunder.
