The seemingly unstoppable rise of Ross From Friends continues via a four-track assault on Lobster Theremin. While the producer's outings on sister label Distant Hawaii have been humid, tropical and melodious, the quartet of cuts here are a little bolder and more bustling in feel. Check, for example, the tough drum machine hits, swirling chords and chopped up vocal samples of "In An Emergency", the jacking drums and early morning wooziness of "Xoxoxo", and the suitably blazed, off-kilter deep house distortion of "Crystal Catcher (Weed)". Arguably best of all, though, is "Donny Blew It", an elastic fusion of sugary-sweet vocal samples, sparkling '80s soul synths and skewed deep house beats that's as loved-up and intoxicating as they come.
