Simone Vescovo, better known as Simoncino, kicks off another venture for a regular haunt of his, Sydney's Thug Records, under the Ron Jason moniker. The invitation of Larry Heard on remix duties should tell you something about this release, and the classic deep house tones that come drifting out of the assembled tracks certainly take their cue from Heard's most tender moments. At each turn the beats feel stiff but soft, giving up as much space as possible to the warming bass lines, chiming keys and ethereal pads, and between the originals and Heard's two remixes there's little to tell between them, which should come as something of a compliment for Vescovo.
