After making waves with a pair of records for the Black Acre label, Archie Fairhurst's Romare project has been scooped up by the perma-busy Ninja Tune with this two track 12" laying down the marker for an upcoming debut album. For the uninitiated, Fairhurst's production name derives from noted US artist and collagist Romare Bearden and his music acts as an outlet for his fascination with African American culture. This results in thick set productions that spill over with sampled material assembled in a fashion that will work in the correct club setting but still has a lot more going on. Both "Roots" and "Pusherman" are fine examples and suggest Romare's upcoming LP Projections may be one of 2015's surprise packages.
