In the lead up to the release of David Kennedy's first Pearson Sound 2018, much attention was focused on "Earwig", a sparse, slow and spooked, TB-303-laden cut that the man himself described as his, "first and probably last acid track". While it provides an intriguing diversion, it's also allows the EP's other two cuts to really shine. "Our Spirits Soar" is a deliciously sub-heavy, breakbeat-powered affair rich in warm, loved-up chords, trippy effects and fizzing, intergalactic electronics. It's pretty tasty, though nowhere near as weighty, intense and percussively punchy as "Rubble", the demolition-themed dancefloor destroyer that opens the EP.
