New Jersey multi-instrumentalist PVD comes correct with his first original pieces since 2015's Right On Time album. Four instrumentals built out of raw funk materials, his then/now signature of very tight jazz musicianship and programming is in full effect: the juicy JB drive and synth squiggles of "On The Good Foot", the dubby heads-down Fat Freddy's Drop style groove of "Forth & Back", the cadent horn layers of "Afro", the classic drum magic of "Break"... Van Dyke's consistency continues to reign supreme.
