Implicate Order vinyl

Since cutting his teeth in the Riot Jazz Brass Band, trumpeter Nick Walters has become a significant player in London's modern jazz scene via his membership of Tenderlonious's Ruby Rushton band and a string of album releases with his own collective, the Paradox Ensemble. Both Walters and his band of collaborators are on fine form on Implicate Order, their third full-length. Positive, energetic and mood-enhancing in tone, the set combines alternately swinging and intense takes on traditional jazz with cuts that variously draw influence from spacey jazz-funk, broken beat and vintage movie soundtracks. It's a fine set all told and includes what we think may be the first example of a jazz accordion solo for some time (and yes, it does sound really good).
