Night Slugs US based sister label Fade To Mind has developed a reputation and momentum of its own this year, and nothing reps that with more clarity than this hyper-extended EP from US duo Nguzunguzu. Plunging deep into the cosmos from the off, we're treated the sonic equivalent of a fur-lined pillow with "Foam Feathers". Further on we revisit Chicago's Muzik Box on a pair of tropical roller skates; all Cumbia rhythms but crudely edited stabs and a distinct carnal groove. "Tumultuous", meanwhile nods towards the dungeon school of thought while remaining fractured and unpredictable enough to remain wholly unique. Elsewhere "Mecha" takes the partnership of half-steps and skanks and gives it such a subversion, you'll be left questioning the very science of sonics. Extraordinary stuff.
