According to the brief press blurb accompanying this first 7" release from the Sudden Edits imprint, Napoleon is the chosen moniker of a previously unheralded Costa Rican disco digger. This may or may not be true, of course, but there's much to suggest that the mysterious producer is a serious talent. His "Cosmic Cheetah" is an eccentric, synth-laden affair and sounds French in origin. Half whispered, sleazy vocoder vocals ride a chugging and slightly exotic rhythm built around winding synths and fuzzy guitars. On the flip, Honey Soundsystem man Hristo drops another gem; a sinewy, string-laden chunk of dewy-eyed slo-mo soul that sounds like it was designed to soundtrack Balearic sunsets and chilly autumnal sunrises.
