You should by now be familiar with the illuminating concept behind the Music From Saharan Cellphones compilations. Sourced from music collected from memory cards of cellular phones in the Saharan desert by Christopher Kirkley over a year long period in Mali, the debut compilation threw the spotlight on the means by which those without the luxury of high speed broadband or wi-fi were still able to trade on music tastes. The phenomenal success of that release ensured that Kirkley's endeavours to crowd source a second compilation brought in more than the projected costs of pressing up the vinyl. This second edition is just as diverse musically though there is a noted focus on the auto tuned DIY creations circulating the desert and comes with detailed sleeve notes on a thick slab of card.
