With the resurgence of electro being all the rage for a a new generation of heads, it's important to credit the old school heroes who are still doin' what they're doing - and damn well we must say. UK veteran Billy Nasty has run the Electrix imprint since the turn of the millenium as a diffusion imprint of his notorious Tortured label. It has released proper electro bass experiments by unlikely names under different pseudonyms, such as Nick Dunton (M-Twelve) and Umek (Zeta Reticula) through to proper legends like Bass Junkie, Carl Finlow/Silicon Scally and Transparent Sound. We might also mention Finnish electro veterans Mr. Velcro Fastener who return for the label for the first time in 15 years. The Ignorance EP sees Tatu Metsatahti & Tatu Peltonen at the top of their game. From the dystopian bounce of "A Monster In Two Worlds" with its straight up vocal delivery that gets a properly brooding makeover by the aforementioned M-Twelve or our favourite of the bunch: the deeply emotive minimal tech-house of "Bakteriofag" calling to mind the early noughties sounds of Swayzak or City Centre Offices.
