Detroit's Monty Luke (who is also Carl Craig's right hand man over at Planet E) dishes up three thundering and complex techno tracks on the Tomorrow EP, the debut release on his Black Catalogue imprint. Working as a contrasting trio, "Tomorrow"m "The Next" and "Yesterday And Today" each hold as much guts and brawn as the next, yet their personalities are strikingly different. "Tomorrow" creeps mysteriously, clattering amongst soaring synths and cold keys while "The Next" is naive, light hearted and upbeat. Finally, "Yesterday and Tomorrow" speed along with quickened tempo, tense synth beds and gorgeously raw drums. This is highly recommended - we can hardly wait for the second Black Catalogue release, which will see criminally underrated Adelaide duo Carter Bros at the helm.
