London's larger-than-life Mute imprint is back with a seriously special package this week, a testament to the fact that they can still be trendsetters when it comes to electronic dance experiments. Martin Gore, a long-time artist on the label, is called up for duties and the man is remixed a rather fine selection of producers. First up is Juno favourite Andy Stott, who turns "Europa Hymn" into a bumpy, gritty and utterly jaw-breaking drum machine groove filled with raucous distortion and slicing percussion. Virgil Enzinger goes for a bleaker techno approach on his rework of "Brink", while Christoffer Berg's edit of "Pinking" is a fine synth jam. "De Nada" and "Gifting" are the two originals from Gore, a pair of oddball electronic cuts that would perhaps be considered to out-there for the dancefloor, but that sounds utterly enthralling on the headphones.
