Over the course of his short career, Markus Sommer has proved adept at producing the kind of deep house and techno that combines funk-fueled, floor-friendly rhythms with dreamy and melodious musical elements. He's at it again on the Offenbach Heat EP. He begins with the rolling, snappy grooves and tumbling chord progressions of "Fotwantey", before doffing a cap to low-slung New York deep house on the organ-clad shuffle of "Offenbach Heat". Sommer cannily opts for a different, but no less warm and positive feel on the flip. First, he deftly combines bass-heavy two-step garage beats with fluid deep house sounds on "Fucked Up Dinosauri", before successfully dipping the tempo on the ultra-deep, hip-hop influenced downtempo vibes of "Trip To The Moon".
