It's been a while since Barcelona's most famous adopted Texan son Maceo Plex graced us with some solo material on his own Ellum Audio, instead electing to perform a fine curatorial role overseeing releases from Good Guy Mikesh, Jay Dee, Danny Daze and TV Baby. Plex fanatics will be pleased as punch to see the Conjure One 12" with the producer adopting a slightly conceptual tone across the three productions. Notions of Bass, Drama and Balearia are broached on the triplet of Plex productions, with "Conjure Balearia" leaning on a naggingly familiar sample. Of course the moment the funk snaps into groove on the track is a perfect example of why Maceo is so popular!
