Scottish producer Lord Of The Isles has spent the past few years issuing some excellent records that have largely flown under the radar of wider acceptance, despite the fact his discography includes releases for Cocktail D'Amour, Unthank, Shevchenko and Ene Records. It feels like more people are starting to take notice of him this year however, and having debuted in fine fashion for esteemed Munich label Permanent Vacation last month, another high profile bow arrives in the shape of this excellent Mule Musiq 12". As with previous LOTI records, the production and musicality here is faultless and the four tracks don't really fit into easy genre categories. Instead it seems like the Scottish producer has taken aspects of soul, disco, house and more cosmic sounds and incorporated them into his own production. The glowering electro pulse of "Here, Now & Beyond" is a particular delight.
