Dean Brown's Little Skull project offers fans another sublime and sophisticated journey through pared back chamber folk stuff. Timeless arrangements, packaged with a contemporary attention to detail in so far as production goes, it's a stunning five-part musical story that is a joy to hear unfold.

From the emotive, jazz-inflections of perhaps the most traditional track here, the somewhat mournful and reflective '02', through the delicate fret plucks and keys of '04' and the piano and guitar warm ups on logically titled opener '01', despite the minimalist approach there's huge depth in the timbre of each finished article. Tunes that feel easy to get lost in, gently compelling us to give ourselves com-pletely to the work and relish every moment we spend in this beautiful, beguiling, mysterious place.
