Deep Sleep Robot is a new label that looks back to overlooked music that was released between the rather specific, and seemingly random, period of 1994 and 2004. Whatever their inspiration for this, the first release is essential. It comes from Len Lewis, who made his The Orbalisk EP between 1999 and 2003 and is well kwon for his tunes on labels like Swag Records. The beats here are prime-era tech house - crisp, slick and punchy. 'Redux' has far-sighted chords and a dubby feel, 'Memories Of A Soft Landing' has delicious hits and tripped out cosmic details and 'Illicus' has a dark undercurrent and paranoid vocals panning about the mix. Proper dancing tackle.
