On his previous full-length excursions for Mule Musiq, Japanese producer Kuniyuki Takahashi has proved adept at blurring the boundaries between deep house and jazz, electronics and live instrumentation, and calculated composition and live improvisation. On Feather World, his latest journey into the outer realms of electronic music, he continues this approach. Naturally, there's much to admire, and not just his impeccable musical knowledge and sound design skills. There's are some impressive tracks buried within the 'anything goes' deepness, from the flowering piano figures and glitchy rhythms of "Get up With You" and flute-sporting house pulse of "Session 2" (his latest hook-up with Henrik Schwarz), to the folksy beauty of "Forest Song" and "Before Creation".
