It has been a bumper year for any PJ Harvey fans somehow still missing her classic records from their collection, with the 20 year anniversary of Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea catalysing a slew of re-releases. This is probably one of the most important, her debut collaboration with fellow English alt-rocker John Parrish - a truly seminal recording.
At the time it was such a meeting of minds it's often difficult to know where one artist starts and the other stops, they're so musically in tune. It might be grubbily rolling around in grungy operatics ('Urn With Dead Flowers In A Drained Pool'), dominated by a weirdly uplifting, shrill blues discordance ('Rope Bridge Crossing'), or feel like a funeral service for lo-fi keyboardists ('Is That All There Is'). Either way, it was all incredibly different and is all still genuinely incredible.
