The legend JD Emmanuel enchants us with this stunning collection of outer cosmic transmissions for the Deep Distance label. Emmanuel is of course highly regarded for Wizards, his early 80s work inspired by Glass and Reich which gained a whole new audience via a reissue from Important Records in 2010. Emmanuel's talent for shedding all sense of time, space & negative energy through new age, ambient synthesiser pieces is very much in evidence on Trance Formations II, a second collection of tracks that in his own words were "composed during the 1990's on the road while travelling cross country for my job". Sounds derived from various synth modules and a Novation keyboard and sequenced on a computer have been separated into six soporific, zoned out pieces that are essential for the Emmanuel completists as well as welcome starting point for curious newcomers.
