Few outside of the Czech Republic are familiar with the work of Jaromir Loffler, a vocalist who made and released a handful of obscure - but largely brilliant - funk and soul singles at the tail end of the 1960s. The two tracks featured on this release have apparently been gathering dust in the artist's archives since they were recorded in "1967 or '68". A-side "Tip, Tip, Tip (Fa Fa Fa Fa Fa)" sees Loffler doing his best impression of Joe Cocker (albeit in Czech) over a backing track that sits somewhere between glossy, late-'60s British pop and Motown style soul. Arguably even better is the flipside Czech language cover of James Brown favourite "It's A Man's Man's Man's World", which is every bit as impassioned and seductive as the original version.
