Having debuted on L.A. Club Resource earlier this year with the roughshod Pandemonium 12?, Chicago house legend Gene Hunt is back on the increasingly cultish label overseen by Delroy Edwards with two slabs of archival material. Little to do with the Curtis Mayfield classic of (nearly) the same name, "Freddy's Dead" instead seeks inspiration from Hollywood horror icon Freddy Krueger, taking ample sample usage of Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare. Originally released as part of the Gene Hunt Classics double pack issued on Dust Traxx in 1999, it sounds right at home on LACR and is complemented by "Bong", an unreleased beat track from Hunt's archive of late '80s recordings.
