Between 1965 and 1975, self-taught jazz musician Francois de Roubaix had a fruitful career composing and recording for television and film. Even if much of his work was commercial, his relative freedom from the constraints of formal training guided him to experiment with tone and timbre as well as the early advent of synthesisers and drum machines. Of course, he also had the instinct for catchy, memorable melodic hooks, but the real magic of his craft, captured on this compilation, lay in the risks and personality he was still able to instill within the music. From rare TV themes to commercial jingles, this is the most considered collection of de Roubaix's work to date, presented in a gatefold sleeve with liner notes about the background to the music.
