Escape Artist hasn't been around for very long, having only previously released one cassette, but the Melbourne artist is surrounded by like-minded talents from the land down-under, so he should have no problems in finding some well-earned spotlight. Out through Salt Mines, a Lobster Theremin deviation, these tunes are a powerful reinterpretation of past sounds and styles, this time focusing on the outer edges of grime and old-school d&b. Much like the sounds of peeps like Alix Perez, and other minimalist jungle fiends, "From Pillar To Post" glitches its drum rolls with a sleek, imperceptible touch, and the same goes for the more house-centric sway of the acidic "Flight Out Of Time". "Signs Of Life" is a killer deep house nugget with plenty of Chicago references, while "Zenith" heads back to the UK, recalling music from legends like Photek and LTJ Bukem. Top!
