It's always difficult when a band has the kind of success Electric Six did with 'Danger! High Voltage' and 'Gay Bar'. At the time - circa 2003 - many assumed they were newcomers to the scene considering the relative obscurity preceding those singles, at least on an international level. The same people probably think they faded out thereafter. Neither are true - the Michigan six piece have been doing their thing since 1996, and with 14 studio albums under their belt exploring their work is genuinely rewarding.
On Streets of Gold they flip that idea on its head, though, and instead invite listeners to explore their record collection, or at least parts of it by way of a stack of cover versions that really show how much personality the band has. Tackling some huge tunes - 'No More Mr. Nice Guy', 'Little Lies', 'That's Entertainment' - they make each their own with a sweaty, heavy but accessible hard rock approach.
