Macedonian producer DJ Goce has been doing his thing for a while now, though this cheeky seven-inch single actually marks his first outing since he served up a cut-and-paste mix of Eastern European hip-hop in 2015. First up is "Edit For a Dollar", a bumpin' revision of 2010 Aloe Blacc classic "I Need A Dollar" that underpins the Stones Throw-released soul jam with chunky new hip-hop beats. It's tastefully done, offering a great balance between the original's piano-driven instrumentation, soaring vocals and dancefloor weight. Over on side B, "ReDrum Genocide" more than lives up to its name, with Goce wrapping bustling new MPC hip-hop beats around Gregory Porter's superb song "Genocide". We can confirm that Goce has treated the original version with due reverence, despite the addition of new percussive elements.
