Dutch producer Deniro - real name Reynior Hooft van Huysduynen - has long been part of the Tape Records family, and was responsible for the techno imprint's first ever 12" single back in 2012. Here he returns, two years on, with two more cuts of straight-up dancefloor techno. "Altavism" is surprisingly spooky, layering tipsy electronics and ghostly loop melodies atop a surging techno groove. Deniro drops the tempo on "Throwback", offering up a hazy trip into deep, woozy house territory. Given the high-tempo intensity of the title track, it's something of a surprise to see him operating at reduced speed. The thing is, it actually works really well; arguably, "Throwback" is the stronger of the two tracks.
