Recently seen flirting with the likes of Nuearth Kitchen and Room With A View, Dave Aju returns to spiritual home Circus Company for his first release on the French label this year. The Maybeso 12" is classic Dave Aju, with the San Franciscan offering up a focused two track release primed for club play that is equal parts deepness, drive, experimentation and funk. Naturally Aju's implementation of his own voice is what gives his music that extra element of distinction and it's demonstrated with aplomb here, featuring in various forms on the title track. Along with the main lyrical refrain, Aju uses his voice as a echoed element that adds to the intoxicating pitched down sensuality of the production. On the flip "Inmahed" features a crisper rhythmic sound which is lent a degree of strangeness by Aju's cooing rapped vocals.
