Review

Daniel Maunick continues on the theme of his debut album Macumba Quebrada from 2019 with this new EP on Far Out. That LP got high praise from dons like Moodymann, Gilles Peterson and Ron Trent and this new one will too, surely. It is deep, mystic house of the highest order, with dreamy pads layered over loose, spacious drums and with wooden percussion rolling over the top. It's hard to pick a highlight here as all four jams really connect to mind, body and spirit thanks to their authenticity and live feels. The vocal motifs add further layers of depth to unpack and explore.
