One of the joys of Dan Curtin's far-sighted and futurist brand of techno is that his records never seem to age. The "When Worlds Align" EP was first released nearly two decades ago, but its three tracks have not aged one bit. This Only One reissue replicates the original track listing, starting with the rubbery techno-funk of "Convergence", where fluttering flute lines and darting Motor City synthesizer flourishes ride an action-packed bassline and swinging drums. "Maniac Lover" is a deliciously melodious chunk of loose-limbed tech-jazz full of machine drum solos and jammed-out keys, while "Luminous Seed Domain" is an ear-pleasing exercise in bespoke techno/deep house fusion.
