Plak Records founder Chaton uses all his serious know how to start this new vinyl only label having closed Plak in 2014. Called Useless Transmissions, it opens its account with deep house that is anything but. The mood is melancholic throughout, but never too mopey. 'Whatever You Hear Tonight' is crisp and dynamic, but with nice worn synth sounds and frayed edges that feel aged and lived in. Hooky synths and dreamy pads add scale and emotional depth that make for lush listening. 'Never On A Rainy Sunday' is deep, too, but with more curious motifs passing by like fireflies. The analogue drum work is deft and delicious.
