BSS stands for Bosconi Sound System: a trio comprised of Florentine label boss Fabio Della Torre, label staple Niccolo Daniel Rufo aka Rufus, plus Italian -American expat in Berlin: Mass Prod. The title reflects the contents of the album, as according to the label themselves: psychedelic/minimal techno and electro music, on a deep and dark tip that speaks to both the mind and the soul'. For the most part, it's an interesting departure from what many would usually associate with the label and its sub labels. While there's some great classic house tributes, like on the euphoric acid journey "Serotonin", channeling the best of the seminal Alleviated on the evocative "Eclipsed" or the acidic percolator-jack of "Black Out" - a respectful tribute to Relief Records' heyday in the early '90s. Then, there's some reduced techno reminiscent of early noughties m-nus, like on "Scaccomatto", while "No Flowers" channels the current in sounds of minimal-electro crossover: as heard on top labels of the moment like Cabaret and Time Passages.
