This 12" not only marks the debut of Crystal Recordings, but also hyped duo Bloodklart Fiyah Mandem, AKA experienced grime producers JFO and Sativa. The Manchester-based pairing hits the ground running with title track "Gully Side", an impressively intoxicating fusion of deep dubstep rhythms, grime attitude, spooky synthesized strings and speaker-rattling sub-bass posturing. They impressively mix things up on superior flipside "Distant Riddim", where an exotic, snaking melody line wraps itself around a stabbing sub-bass pattern and razor-sharp grime beats. Throw in occasional MC vocal samples, and you have a weighty concoction that's as musically inspiring as it is floor-friendly.
