Azymuth's 1977 set "Aguia Nao Come Mosca" finally gets the reissue treatment, some 24 years after its last vinyl pressing. It was one of the albums on which the legendary Brazilian jazz-funk/fusion outfit forged their impressive reputation, and remains a wonderfully sun-kissed blend of languid electric piano solos, jaunty samba guitars, rich jazz-funk bass, starry synthesizer chords and bustling drums. While the (then) trio have made plenty of other fine albums over the years - 1979's "Jazz Carnival"-sporting "Light As A Feather" arguably being the most famous and celebrated - few can match the quality distillation of influences and inspirations that marks out "Aguia Nao Come Mosca" as one of the highlights of their self-proclaimed "MPB-jazz" period.
