After the barnstorming Dispel Dances long player of last year, Anstam returns with another album of subversive beat science for 50 Weapons, fusing wild sample digging with bold synthesis across a range of tempos. Each new track presents unexpected delights, moving from the monolithic 80s funk stylings of "Hopes Soliloquy" to the schizoid vocal jazz-beat psych out "Me & Them" and then on to the drunken synth warbles of "Hearts Soliloquy". The breadth of ideas that Anstam covers on this LP, as with his last one, is quite staggering, hitting on a rich well of originality with every new tune.
