New London label Fly By Night Music launches in style with this excellent 12" helmed by one of our favourite producers, Andy Ash. Operating at a tempo faster than the chunky disco leaning house Ash came to the fore on, "White Leaf" sounds very unique with intricate off kilter percussive touches making for a memorable groove upon which a delightfully starry eyed melange of upwardly mobile chords and a vocal sample regarded as Timmy Thomas-esque by the label. Flip over for a worthy remix from Moodymanc which teases outer the darker intricacies of Ash's track - the growling bassline on this must sound real nice on a big soundsystem."500 Motor" rounds off this release in fine style, a production that expertly demonstrates Ash's talent for layering multiple elements of sounds without it ever sounding like a cluttered mess.
