Electronic experimentalist Andrea Belfi has always been hard-to-pin down, with his use of a dizzying array of aliases reflecting his desire to flit between different styles. Cera Persa is a rare outing under his given name, and offers two contrasting riffs on the same dystopian, end-of-days theme. The creepy A-side "Cera Persa 1" sits somewhere between apocalyptic, slack-tuned experimental jazz, horror influenced ambient, and undeniably deep and dark techno. On the flip, Belfi attempts to explore even murkier pastures, with dislocated drum hits, effects-laden electronics and ghostly melodies combining to send shivers down the spine. It's pretty out there stuff, all told, but also strangely alluring.
