That album remains a much-loved listen for many people so there has been an expected degree of anticipation regarding this follow-up, Wildflower. Happily, it's something of a resounding success, with the Melbourne trio serving up another whirlwind trip through sample-heavy, hip-hop era psychedelia. At 21 tracks deep, and with more changes of direction than your average three-week cycle race, it's something of a beast. It is, though, well worth the effort, as repeat listens simply uncovers more layers of hazy, glassy-eyed goodness (be it bluesy trip-hop, slipped disco, dreamy acid-pop, folksy beat-scapes or baked hypno-rock).

Review: They're back! 5 years after "La Revancha Del Tango", and even more from the very first 10", Gotan Project are coming again with a new album entitled "Lunatico", to be released April 11th. Here's the first 10" out of it, offering the same & very unique recipe, yet slightly different. "Diferente": This first single leaves nothing wanting on the dancefloor. The number is driven by a bass loop that carries a lusty melody piped out by Cristina Vilallonga, while the strings play a dramatic supporting role. The irresistible tension builds into a crescendo with a hint of bandoneon, a sprinkling of piano notes and other sounds lurking in a dark and murky atmosphere. B side is "Domingo'' and refers to Domingo Cura, the Argentine percussionist that Gotan Project was planning to record with, and a major source of inspiration for them. But as life would have it, he passed away a few months before the session. So instead the skilful Facundo Guevara pays homage to him with an intricacy of complex rhythms. On top of this, we hear the raspy voice of Afro-Argentine Jimi Santos pronouncing the numerous African words that pepper the world of tango: "Milonga, candombe & Quilombo"!

Lapsley's return to the release schedule is thought provoking stuff. Leading on the four tracks here, "My Love Love Was Like The Rain" tackles the confusion and uncertainties that define adult relationships, the way we are attracted to those we don't understand and how, in turn, preconceptions direct the behaviour of that mysterious other. Intimate electronic pop which is followed by the stepping, garage-tinted "Eve", the lo-fi piano downtempo joy of "Ligne 3", with its looped lyrics on letting go, and, finally, "Drowning", the opening drums like the beat of a damaged heart before the rhythm gets into gear.
