Review: Much sought after represses from the Unlimited Love camp, now up to their eleventh edition. On the A side, there's some seriously soulful and raw funk in the form of Aggression's "Tag" from 1981. It's anyone's guess when Robbie Cee's "Beautiful People" (instrumental) is from, but this sexy electronic disco number is timeless and said to be played out by the likes of Hunee and other top selectors. On the flip, Ron Richardson's boogie down joint from 1983 "Ooh Wee Babe" was admittedly our absolute favourite of the bunch. but, honourable mention also to the quite familiar sounding soul power of Sophisticated Ladies - "This Ain't Really Love" (1980).

Review: France's Unlimited Love label has quickly established itself as a consistent source of obscure material drawn from disco and boogie's quirkier margins. This third volume is every bit as tidy as its predecessors. While some may already be familiar with Ben's 1982 boogie-funk gem "I Would Have To Be A Fool" due to its inclusion of a number of crate-digging compilations, the same can't be said for the rest of the material. Electric Nightmare's "Garden of Delight" is a sublime chunk of spacey progressive rock/electronic disco fusion from 1979, while Panache's "Get Down (To The Sweet Music)" has long been regarded as a "must have" by collectors of little-known disco. Sunstreet's breezy and positive "Lovin" - another lesser-known cut from 1979 - completes another essential package.

Review: As with its' 12 predecessors, the latest compilation style EP from publicity-shy French diggers Unlimited Love gathers together an impressive selection of sought-after gems. This time round, many of the cuts are taken from eye-wateringly expensive and hard-to-find private press records. Check, for example, the fizzing 1982 boogie of Jeancy's "Reservation", the sweet breeziness of Karizma's "Will You Dance With Me" (an original 7" copy of which would set you back around L300) and the skewed, orchestra-smothered quirkiness of Marion Javius's "Waiting in the Wings". Elsewhere, Makonde's "Manzara" is a heavy chunk of psychedelic-minded Afro-funk, while Neo Experience's sumptuous "Human" is a lesser-known chunk of Philly soul bliss.

Review: Premier revisitations from hot to trot Parisian love station, the ninth edition continues to dig deep into the realms of the long-lost and highly collectable. The lead track, KIC's "Don't You Want My Love", for example, now fetches triple figures. Elsewhere SPG's "Loveland" is a fly-by-night falsetto funk shakedown while 24 Karat Gold's rare "New Love" struts with stunning string stabs and an energy that flares from zero to glitterball in two bars. TCB Band's "Children Of The Future" closes the sneaky session with a sweet harmonic hot chocolate soul. Blink and you'll miss it.

Drawing for rarities and oddities from artists whose repertoires are shockingly slim, this is their second EP in three months and, once again, it features a wide range of killer sounds from late 70s/early 80s. From Magnum's street kicking New York funk to the rich rare groove of Phyliss Bailey, it's a boogie odyssey through and through with sleazy guitar-twanging funk from Broken Glass and straight-up percussion-powered disco energy from Thunderbolt. Review: French retroverts Unlimited Love are back with their 15th volume of rarities and underground goodies - all taken from the golden year of 1980. On the A side, we have Poncho C. Saint Fingers with his super soulful sleeper hit "When I Come Knocking", followed by Sandi Havens uplifting disco number "Happy". On the flip, you can save yourself at least a hundred bucks and enjoy Smile Street People's island dream that is "Lypso Disco" at a fraction of the cost that this diggers delight usually goes for. Same goes for Sugar Bear Johnson's low-slung jazz funk on "When Your Jones Come Down" which features the most awesome brass section ever.

Review: Whatever you think of the Unlimited Love series - and a few record collectors have grumbled online about it - you can't argue with the quality of the rare cuts they offer up. Volume 26 in the series is, of course, another must-have. First up is New Love Ltd & Interstate 95's positive and punchy disco-soul number "So Much To Talk About", quickly followed by another superbly soulful late 1970s dancefloor number, "That Friday Pay (Part One)" by Sonny Jenkins And The New York Potpourri Strings. The rare hits keep coming on the flip, where Sugar & Spice's boogie-era disco-funk number "The Beast (Instrumental)" comes accompanied by the low-slung brilliance of World Quake Band's "On The One", a 1980 B-side from a record that regularly changes hands for L140 a pop.
