Review: The Aussies seem to be going gaga for Rominimal sounds at the moment, particularly on the sunny shores of Sydney. First was the Lokomotiv label and now Unic, who are into their fourth release and it's by Bucharest hero Vlad Arapasu. Formerly one half of Dubsons, he's had a slew of killer releases in recent times for the likes of Eastenderz, Atipic and Subtil. "Vesica Piscis EP" features three typically rolling and hypnotic cuts aimed squarely at main room dancefloors: from the heady and bass-driven banger of the title track on the A side which makes for a sturdy DJ tool across its glorious 10 minute duration. On the flip, it's all about getting weird and trippy at the afterhours on the disorienting "Witchy Ci" while "Colour Map" goes down a lean and dubby route.

Review: Following some great releases on Stomping Grounds, Playedby and Ruere, Transylvanian producer Alin Crihan aka Discret Popescu returns with this new one for Aussie imprint Unic. This EP features four heady and hypnotic cuts; the ethereal and mesmerising rolling drama created on both tunes on the A side are the perfect soundtrack to an open-air sunrise set, while over on the flip you have a couple of lean, subtle and moody microhouse grooves that head inside for the continuing afterparty. Proper tackle on this one for diehard fans of the 'Rominimal' sound.

Review: 'Visions' inaugurates Australian imprint Unic. It aims to champion minimalist music, plus seek truly emotive and engaging records, mixes and individuals. This various artists release is a testament to the Sydney based label's commitment to artistry of the highest calibre: from both new and seasoned producers. Featuring Romanian producer Dragutesku (Mood Series/Recordeep) with the tripped-out and hypnotic bliss of "Fonetic", the always reliable Ukrainian Silat Beksi (who veers away from his trademark breaks-driven style) on the deeply ethereal groove of "Source" and Club Midi (Cluj Napoca) resident RQZ with with the subtle, rolling and totally trance-inducing "Conflicted".

Review: After a strong 2020 on labels such as The Other Side, Pleasure Zone and Damn!, Romanian artists Guy From Downstairs serves up his debut studio album Oceanic. Every bit as deep, wavey, and full of hidden secrets, across the two 12"s we're treated to tidal wave of soaking wet grooves. Highlights include the slippery filters worming their way all over 'Low Life Low Bass', the depth plunge bass/kick hits and soft harmonic ebbs and flows of 'AMC' and the gentle rolls and pushes of the 10 minute delight that is the title track.
