Review: ***B-STOCK: Sleeve damaged but otherwise in excellent condition***


Honk If You're Sad is the new album from Ebi Soda and it features some top guests, not least highly-acclaimed British-Bahraini trumpet player Yazz Ahmed on 'Chandler.' The record was crafted from jam sessions that lasted for a full 10 hours and is a multi-genre mashup with bright and vivid colours, challenging free-jazz solos and driving percussion over modern drum sounds. The unique nature of the Brighton outfit's recording process certainly lends these tunes plenty of heft, with the mistakes left in and the fuzz of theorem also capture to make it a living, breathing jazz work of art.

Review: Much loved soul, jazz and hip hop fusionists Moonchild are back on their home label Try Thoughts with another magnificent and widescreen album. Reflections builds on their sonic foundation with subtle evolutions in sound but plenty of the recognisable tropes that have made this outfit so well loved as they, inspired by their own Tiny Desk performance, revisit, rework and reimagine their old songs. There are acoustic versions of their hit singles and overall the record finds the laid-back LA based trio once again epitomise a mix of intricate, progressive musicality with a chilled out vibe.

New album Liberation marks his third solo LP, showcasing orchestral arrangements, jazz improvisation, and hip-hop production. With courage and musical conviction, Sly5thAve's inner voice guides him, liberating him from fear as the original orchestrations effortlessly unfold. Collaborating with Ghost Note bandmates and other talented musicians, Sly5thAve breathes new life into classics like Destiny's Child's 'No, No, No Pt. 2' and crafts original tracks like 'Monoxide' and 'Big Brother feat. Daniel Wytanis' which pays homage to his collaborators' contributions and his own musical evolution.
