Review: New 12" from Jake Childs on the Seasons Recordings label. Teaming up with vocalist Alexander East, "Inside" sees Jake laying down a bed of bumping analog bass, chunky house beats, and rich chord stabs behind a trademark Alexander smooth house vocal, resulting a late night house pleaser. Cpen hands in 2 mixes, the first, his "94 To The Floor mix", a true old skool homage, with classic house-styled keys and a more relaxed bassline approach. The "Egyptian Be Bop mix" on the flip has a little more bite to it, with punchy drums, a smoother bassline, and the vocals served up in hookier form, while a great horn line comes into play for more house grooves.

Review: The mighty Cpen, coming up with another winner here for his latest outing on Seasons. "Lovers Lounge" is a choice three-tracker that dares to mix things up, with the A-side classic mix from Cpen clocking in a seriously midtempo 100 BPM, taking its cue from the old-school disco vibe of labels like West End and Prelude. Adding a different vibe entirely is JT Donaldson, who ups the tempo, beefs up the bass and turns out pumping late night groover that keeps it both techy and musical at the same time. Hot. On the flip, Cpen's extended "No Kinda Rules" is a real dancefloor pleaser with the bass coming in loud and clear before kicking into a jamming late night key-heavy groover. Definitely a hot track for the Freerange and Buzzin'fly heads, this one. One of Seasons' strongest EPs in a little bit.

Review: Cpen making a welcome return with this latest offering from Seasons Recordings. "Crimson Strides" combines a deep analog bassline with a superb sax hook, while shuffling beats, subtle vocal harmonies, and smooth keys flesh out the background on this lush late night house gem. On the flipside, the dub take gives the track a little more primetime appeal with a pulsing retooled bassline, slightly tougher beats, and newly added analog keys, before drifting delays top the whole thing off perfectly.

Review: Representing the most housed-up, safe and steady branch of the Carl A Finlow sound, the man also known as Silicon Scally makes his way to the Seasons imprint with a sound that draws upon his more wild electro leanings while keeping the measured funk of sturdy house music in his sights. Things get pretty loose and fruity on "One Track Mind" while "Squeezed" takes great pleasure in wriggling down into a low slung dirty groove, but equally "Subterranean" and "Tilt" do a fine job of marrying esoteric production delights with more structured rhythm sections. Whatever the case the release brims with the unique glossy qualities that Finlow brings to all of his productions.
