Solar Flight (Opus I) (original 12" mix)
M3000 (Opus VI) (Felix Dickinson & Nick The Record edit)
Review: Adding a further layer of impressiveness to an impeccable year of releasing records, Rush Hour return to the archives of Motown funkateer Mandre on this charming snow white coloured vinyl. "Solar Flight" will be familiar to fans of Will Smith's early musical career as it was used as the backing for a heavy dose of scratchadelia by Jazzy Jeff on their "Rhythm Trax" song as well as being sampled by a wealth of other producers. Removed from primitive turntablism and metallic 808 drums, "Solar Flight" is simply one of the most delightful slices of music made with synthesizers. Additional words of praise are reserved for the B Side remix of "M3000" from Cynic Music duo Felix Dickinson and Nick The Record that reimagines the track as glistening proto techno driven by a cavernous arpeggiated bassline.

The Dance Of Life (7:42)
Up Jump (6:26)
Review: Following the runaway success of their re-release of James Mason's cult classic "I Want Your Love" a few years back, Rush Hour asked the legendary disco-soul producer whether he had any unreleased material in the archives. After rooting around, he unearthed enough material to fill an album, Recollection Echo, which hits stores later in the year. Before that, Rush Hour present two previously unheard gems; the breezy, soulful disco brilliance of "The Rhythm of Life" (which, brilliantly, features Bernard Purdie on drums, and Fonda Rae on backing vocals), and "Up Jump", a brilliantly strange - and thrilling - combination of pitched-down electro beats, vocoders and spiraling soul vocals. That album should be pretty sensational; until it's released, these two tracks will more than suffice.

Sound Track Orchestra & Silvy - "Tirsa Song" (3:43)
Review: Back in 2012, Rush Hour boss Antal Heitlager put together a sublime collection of obscure Surinamese disco and boogie for sister label Kindred Spirits. Four years on, and with assistance from Thomas Gesthuizen, he presents the follow-up, Surinam Funk Force. Predictably, it's another fine set full of surprise gems and barely-known classics. While some tracks sound authentically American (see the deep and harmonious brilliance of Steve Watson's "Born To Boogie", and Surinam scene stalwart Sumy's eccentric, synth-laden "The Funky 'G' (Only Comes At Night)", some of the most potent cuts lean more heavily on traditional Surinamese music. In this camp you'll find the thrilling funk of Explosion's "Wakka Mang", and the off-kilter tropical disco-funk of Ronald Snijders' "Kaseko Attack".

Let No Man Jack (Maydays Rescued From Acetate edit)
Gene Hunt - "Sound Drome"
Review: Chicago house heaven here with two tracks from those mythological mid 80s nights at Ron Hardy's legendary club Muzic Box club. First up "Let No Man Jack" is explained by its 'rescued from acetate edit' subtitle. With pitched up diva vocals, brutal cuts and harsh drum machine track, it's a fast and raw stomper -just the way we like it. Gene Hunt's "Sound Drome" is a 13-minute monster which Hardy would have worked til the floor was sore. Rush Hour have dropped a sizeable hint that it'll be the first part of a retrospective telling the story of feted DJ Ron Hardy and the Chicago nightclub he presided over - 2013 can't come soon enough!
