Review: Mark Wilkinson's Kid Machine project first rose to prominence back in 2012, following a killer release of hard-wired Italo-disco revivalism for I-F's Viewlexx label. Space Elite is his second full length, and first since joining Red Laser last year. Clearly inspired by futurist daydreams of deep space exploration, it sees Wilkinson laying down an octet of sparkling, melodious tunes packed full of sparkling analogue synthesizer melodies, chugging, Italo-disco style arpeggio grooves, and alien-friendly kosmiche electronics. It feels a little like a more stylized, Italian influenced take on Vangelis' famous Blade Runner soundtrack, but that's no bad thing. If Italo-disco is your thing, you really need this in your life.
