Review: Having lurked around murky corners of the grubby industrial techno realm for the past year or so, Pavel Milyakov builds on his rapidly swelling discography with this transmission for Public System. It's the second release on the label following a strong opening salvo from DJ Spider and Greypeople, and this 12" offers up further forthright club-wreckers that balance taut functionality with production flair. Opening cut "Strainn" delivers bludgeoning electro from the netherworld, which Ekman then dutifully reworks with an added eerie tension. There are edgy arpeggios aplenty on "Trance T" and warmer tones in "Augusts 13", rounding out an essential slab of serious techno tackle.

Review: Introducing the new vinyl only label, Public System Recordings, co run by Matthieu Foltyn and Eric Strykert. The first release is a split series Ep from DJ Spider and Grey People. Starting off the EP; DJ Spider's 'Mind Field' offers a percussive drum riff, warm synths, and a slight off beat rhythmic intensity that moulds together perfectly. Next on Spider's side is 'Demon Seed ' an intense journey utilizing deep stabbing Kicks, delayed snares, whistling synths, and finishes with a soft subtle chant. Flipping the record; Grey People enters into the well familiar analogue techno spectrum. 'Deep Friday' builds up with short stabbing cords, flickering snares and a spooky vocal. 'Too Much Relevance' is a rough acid Chicago throw back. Don't let this one slip!!

Having cut his teeth with some devilishly deviant drops on Primitive Languages, Lost Soul Enterprises and others, New York's R Gamble returns with a stunning mini-album for Public System that brings his canny twist on minimal wave and EBM to wax for the first time in years. As well as being a dab hand at programming his boxes to impart his ghoulish bangers, what sets Gamble apart is his sense of composition, making proper ear-snagging songs with structures and narrative. Marrying that accomplished approach with the clamour of his production style, and you've got yourself a slice of '80s inspired creepiness that's a cut above the rest.

Review: Public System presents a monster collection of the grubbiest, punked out lo fi deviant electronics from the true underground. Some names are more familiar, such as the excellent Templeyard Studios with the uneasy clatter of "Take66", while Buttechno brings a blistering array of tones to the forefront for some truly adventurous acid abstractions. There's a lot of lesser known delights to revel in though, from the boxy beatdown of IXVLF, the darkwave electro thrust of Kluentah and the intricate percussive science of Meze. This may be dirty dance music for wayward souls, but there are some seriously fresh ideas lurking on this ludicrously valuable package.

Spanning hi-octane indus bullets, half-baked mutant salvos and shadow-clad juicers from a host of reputed names and rabid underdogs, this new comp collates ruff’n’tuff joints from gritty techno don Container, genre-unbound explorer E-Saggila, Berlin’s electro arsonist Privacy, acid-spitting hydra DJ Loser x Penelopes Fiance, basement guerillero Yabboq Penuel alias Le Syndicat Electronique, neo-punk beat thrasher Crave, Yves Tumor collaborator and sine-wave crusher Anthem, expert circuit dissector Beau Wanzer, Liquid G as remixed by Mick Wills, Night Gaunt’s Lower Tar, occult machine funk preacher Maenad Veyl, DJ Chupacabras under new guise 110, soundwaves cross-pollinator DJ Richard, vibrant mood-scapist Gavilán Rayna Russom, as well as label boss Myn going ubiquitous with studio fellows Kluentah as Myntha, and R Gamble as Fade Accompli. A much desirable feast of raw, unhinged, all-round spine-tingling jams for the club and not.

The latest in the synth-heavy sludgedown from the ever impressive imprint, invites a new cast of characters into the dungeon dance. The common theme throughout this collection, seems to be wide, slowed down melancholy. Some tracks take a floor-focused jump, while others demand the attentive consumption of a more serene setting. These two discs are packed with dynamic, chugging, and forward thinking jams that make you mesh all things the imprint is clearly passionate for.
