Dave Charlesworth - "Home" (6:20)
Dave Charlesworth - "Special Feeling" (7:12)
D Lux & Y No - "25 Miles" (6:33)
S R - "Pressure" (7:03)
Review: The Plastik People label has been going along nicely for its first few releases, with label head Marc Cotterell stepping up and coming correct last time out. Now he calls upon various artists with Dave Charlesworth taking care of the a-side of Nice Ripe Cuts. He offers two super slick garage cuts that cannot fail to make their mark on the club and it's no different on the flipside except D Lux & Y No combine first for '25 Miles' and then S R offers the irresistible 'Pressure.' An essential 12" for anyone looking to bring some fresh garage flavours.

8 Minutes Of Pleasure (8:28)
Soul Glow (6:41)
This Love Of Mine (7:19)
Get That Feelin' (8:07)
Review: Plastik People label head Marc Cotterell steps up to his own imprint here with a vibey EP featuring four cuts that fuse garage, house and jack. There are strong US vibes and throwback bassline sounds on the gorgeously smooth and bumping '8 Minutes Of Pleasure' which is defined by a funky sax. 'Soul Glow' has funky samples, rolling drums and some dazzling disco dust sparkled over it while 'This Love Of Mine' gets down to business with a chunky beat, neon pads and a diva vocal to get the hands in the air. Closer 'Get That Feelin' brings the party with more kicking house beats and elastic synths and bass.

Deep House
Marc Cotterell - "C's Groove" (7:16)
Danny J Lewis - "D's Groove" (6:23)
Review: Set your phasers to garage house, because Plastik People are back in action with true believer Marc Cotterell at the helm. The evergreen sound of big, bashy, bumping drums and sweet, soulful organ chords is as vital as ever in Cotterell's hands, and on 'C's Groove' he's flexing some especially funky wandering bass skills to get the party juiced up good and proper. On the flip another Plastik People regular Danny J Lewis is busy bringing a deeper kind of flavour with cool and deadly chord chops which nod to Mood II Swing, albeit with plenty more fizzy FX and sound design tweaks darting around the hard shuffle and MIDI sax parps.

Jersey Music (6:25)
It's What We Do (7:44)
Give Me Your Love (6:27)
Summer Heatwave (6:15)
Review: The Plastik People garage wagon keeps on rolling, and they've got that bump n' swing for days. Label head honcho Marc Cotterell is back at it with Danny Phillips, dropping four bombs geared towards exuberant explosions of joy on the floor, leading in with the utterly infectious 'Jersey Music'. 'It's What We Do' keeps the organ stabs tightly clipped and punchy as hell, while 'Give Me Your Love' gets into a Todd Edwards frame of mind chopping the samples around on 'Give Me Your Love'. 'Summer Heatwave' rounds things off beautifully to close the EP with a sweet and sentimental groover that wiggles in all the right places.

Marc Cotterell - "The Way You Hold Me" (5:54)
Marc Cotterell - "Ease Your Mind" (7:27)
Gavin Dista - "Fantasy" (5:51)
Gavin Dista - "Funk House" (5:41)
Review: This week we have some new wax from Plastik People Recordings. The Albuquerque, New Mexico based operation presents the Locked In EP. On the A side you're in good hands with label head honcho Marc Cotterell who gives you two expressions in classic house music in the form of 'The Way You Hold Me' and the timeless 'Ease Your Mind' complete with swung beats and roaring diva vocals. They tapped legendary Sheffield producer Gavin Dista for a couple of previously unreleased exclusives on side B. Dista serves up a true zeitgeist of the mid '90s on the uplifting garage of 'Fantasy' followed by the absolutely euphoric vocal house anthem 'Funk House'.

DJ Aakmael - "Deeprespectrak" (7:02)
Lars Behrenroth - "Infection" (7:41)
Mark Nicholas O - "Deep Groove" (6:00)
Review: Hailing from New Mexico and on a mission to uphold the principles of soulful house music, Plastik People offer up another fine selection of operators who understand the legacy laid down by the pioneers of true deepness. DJ Aakmael has been doing his thing on labels like Uzuri and his own UnXpozd Entertainment for a long time, and he's on perfect form on "Deeprespectrak" (with a little assistance on the mic as well). Lars Behrenroth meanwhile brings a drum heavy pressure to the otherwise smooth "Infection", and Mark Nicholas O lays down a sharp and nagging garage beat laden with jazzy licks.

DJ Deller - "Nobody Does It Better" (5:42)
Heritage - "Dial Up" (4:27)
Review: Plastik People bring some more garage heat to their Ltd sublabel with the outstanding double hit of DJ Deller and Heritage. Deller is in control on the A side with the rolling breakstep funk of 'Nobody Does It Better', maximising on a soulful male vocal, killer hats and a Lately bassline to die for. On the flip, Heritage is a rougher affair that breaks the beat up and goes in hard on the wobbly subs, keeping things sparse and deadly for a surefire club weapon. It's a perfect foil to the upfront soul vibes of the A side, making this an incredibly useful record to pack for two vastly different reasons.

Hi Times - "Journey Into Jazz" (5:14)
DB Selective - "Dub Train" (5:59)
Scott Garcia - "Music Takes You" (6:21)
Review: Albuquerque's premier deep house label does it once again with this on-point clutch of hard-funking jams from their extended family. Hi Times absolutely smash it on the A side with the buttery garage tones of "Journey Into Jazz", working up a mean piano hook and a hard swinging beat to devastating effect. DB Selective takes a more choppy approach without losing any of that shuffle, and then Scott Garcia brings the absolute toughest stuff on "Music Takes You" for those who want it deep and pumping. These are gold-plated party starters, guaranteed to shake down any dancefloor worth its salt.

Show Some Love
Review: The Plastik People label is a great repository for deep house that is timeless but never tired. Katermurr is next up to prove that point with an EP that transcends the ages. It opens with a lovely throwback Chicago vocal over fresh modern drums. After 'Wanna Be With You' gets you going, 'Let's Dance' brings the party vibes with some busy lead melodies that will get hands in the air old school style. 'Donny' then keeps it deep with some languid grooves and a nice smoky soulful vocal drifting above. Last of all is the more bumping and dusty drums of 'Show Some Love' to close out a classic EP.

Blues For You (Danny J Lewis rework) (5:41)
Blues For You (Marc Cotterell rework) (7:50)
Review: Plastik People cast their gaze back to a garage house staple and give it a new lease of life on this cool and deadly white label. The original "Blues For You" by Logic is a pinnacle on the Strictly Rhythm catalogue - some might say untouchable - but Danny J Lewis and Marc Cotterell are here to tell you otherwise. Lewis lands on the A side with a version that keeps the structure of the track intact, and speaks those iconic hooks through a different set of instruments that gives the track a new lease of life. Cotterell meanwhile smooths the garage jerk of the original out into a more linear house thrust while working the vocal samples with glee - it's a respectful approach that simply repositions the groove of the original to give it a fresh flavour.

Stand By Me (Crackazat mix)
Stand By Me (Cotterell Classic Vibe)
Stand By Me (Johan S remix)
Stand By Me (original club mix)
Review: Dazzle Records was a short-lived sublabel of Outland that carried just two singles. One of them was Keith Sibley's Stand By Me, which captured the zeitgeist of mid 90s garage house perfectly. Now US label Plastik People has commissioned a raft of remixes to bring the soulful hooks of the original to a fresh audience. British producer Crackazat gets into a looped up, heads down groove while Plastik People boss Cotterell lays down some thick organ work on his 'Classic Vibe' mix. Johan S has a particularly bright and breezy approach with his own Chandler-inspired version, while Sibley's original makes an appearance in all its life-affirming glory.

Passion Rhythms (feat Janelle) (5:35)
Can You Understand My Groove (5:58)
Review: The Plastik People label keeps up its good momentum with another feel-good EP of classically inclined house music for cosy floors and emotional crowds. 'Keep Me Satisfied' is a superb opener with effortlessly cool and deep house grooves and sweet vocals from Reda. 'The Way I Live' gets even more steamy and deep with jazzy chords and another lung-busting vocal to really make sure the party kicks off. 'Passion Rhythms' features Janelle on the vocals and builds another sweaty but sensuous vibe and 'Can You Understand My Groove' is a clean, effective weapon to close.

Tree Of Life
Deep Thoughts
Tree Of Life (Life Recorder remix)
Deep Thoughts (Bradford James remix)
Review: Originally released on Ron Trent's Future Vision, Trinidadian Deep's "Tree Of Life" finds itself reissued on the fledgling Plastik People Recordings, and its smooth blend of tropical percussion, laid back Motor City chords and soulful vocals still stands up today, even when put next to the brand new "Deep Thoughts", a less vocal number but one that succeeds in creating those deceptively complex moods and shimmering synth modulations Trinidadian Deep is so eminently capable of. On the flip, Life Recorder remixes "Tree Of Life", accentuating the original's dubbier qualities and upping the motorik drums, while Bradford James' rework of "Deep Thoughts" offers the most radical revision, providing a raw, late night version with all the vibrant house energy of the original.
