I'm A Dancer
All Night Long
Review: Having previously proved they are more than capable of crafting accomplished house and techno with output on Further, Uzuri and Argot, Pittsburgh Track Authority further showcase their versatility on Edits Vol 1 which sees the US trio try their hand at disco edits. Face up the Pittsburgh Track Authority edit of "I'm A Dancer" leans heavily on the electronic side of the disco spectrum, deftly opening up from taut basslines and soaring synths into a huge arrangement of horns and wobbling arpeggios. Face down "All Night Long" contains the freakiest guitar lick we've heard since an In Flagranti track circa 2005.

Slide (Slide Free dub) (5:14)
Review: It's been a while since we heard from US outfit Pittsburgh Track Authority. Now a duo made up of Adam Ratana and Preslav Lefterov after Thomas Cox left, they are back with more of their fine analogue machine sounds almost a decade after first emerging. This limited 12" comes on their own self-titled label and features four versions of one new tune featuring the vocal talents of Brandon Markell Holmes. 'Slide' (7am mix) opens up and is a smooth-as-you-like vocal deep house roller that gets a little more raw and funky with the Drum Mix. Shawn Rudiman's remix pairs things back once more and adds some tech drum texture and last of all is the silky Slide Free dub.

Pittsburgh Track Authority vs Nice Rec
Cat: PGHTRX 002. Rel: 05 Jun 12

Disco/Nu-Disco
Rotunda (feat Craig Peyton)
Snap Off
Get Out Of Your Head
Pittsburgh Rich
Review: Pittsburgh Track Authority come through with the latest release on their eponymous label, teaming up with fellow Pittsburgher Nice Recs for a four track 12" that delves deeper into the sumptuous terrains of house that the crew has already explored on Uzuri and Further. "Snap Off" is an undoubted centre piece of this release, the PTA's skill for arrangement evident throughout as the warm, heavily set groove slips through various melodic movements culminating in a wondrous concoction of playful synth patterns and shimmering chords. This is by no means the only highlight however, with "Get Out Of Your Head" exploding with reverberant colour midway through its shaken down disco groove and the stripped back drum machine flex of "Pittsburgh Rich" unfurling melodically in a similar manner.

Techno
Works On Paper (5:47)
Last Light On (5:19)
Switching Rails (6:52)
One More Sometime (3:57)
Review: For their latest release, Pittsburgh Tracks has turned to Shawn Rudiman, an experienced producer arguably best known for previous releases on Applied Rhythmic Technology, Matrix and Detroit Techno Militia. There are four quality cuts to choose from, of which the muted Detroit futurism of "Works On Paper" - classic sounding riffs and spacey electronics over a rolling techno groove - and the acid-fired deep space thrust of "Switching Rails" are our picks for peak-time plays. That said, ultra-deep, daydreaming IDM closer "One More Sometime" is also superb, while "Last Light On" is a deep and driving techno box jam. In other words, it's an excellent EP.

Review: First producing in 2009, C.Scott is an MPC virtuoso inspired by hip-hop's golden era. He jumped head first into Pittsburgh's music community after having perfected his craft, maintaining a strong presence in the local electronic scene. After his 2016 debut release on Lumberjacks in Hell, this is his return to vinyl with a seven track EP on Pittsburgh Track Authority's imprint, that covers a wide variety of moods and grooves. From the soulful hi-tech jazz of "Departure", the low slung/slo-mo boogie down vibe of "Distance Fog" and the dusty late night deepness of "Daily" which is filtered to perfection and includes a remix from LA DJ/Producer Aaron Paar, who is one half of the legendary Teflon Dons.
