Review: After dazzling with disco promise with their eponymous 2008 debut album on DFA, Hercules and Love Affair have settled into a wide-eyed, revivalist house groove variously influenced by the productions of Victor Simonelli, Kevin Saunderson, David Morales and Ten City. This third album from Andrew Butler's ever-changing combo continues in a similar vein to 2010's Blue Songs, delivering a warm, enticing, entertaining and occasionally poppy blend of classic US garage, early Italian house, early '90s New York house and groovy crossover late '80s acid house. It's soulful, immaculately produced and thoroughly radio-friendly. It's also enjoyably quirky, with eccentric turns and tongue-in-cheek lyrics aplenty (see the hilariously sweary backing vocals on "My Offence").

Review: Four years on from the release of his admired debut album "A Shot In The Light", Disco Halal founder Moscoman finally delivers a sequel. It sees him subtly moving away from the druggy, mind-altering and often psychedelic brand of club cuts with which he made his name - bar the odd inspired, strobe-lit outing such as "Maker Baker Faker Taker", "Sense of Time" and the throbbing Vanity Fairy hook-up "Turning Tides" - towards a slightly more sofa-friendly sound that twists synth-pop, dream-pop, shoegaze and drowsy indie-pop into vivid new shapes. It's a canny move that guarantees smile-inducing thrills from start to finish, with the New Order-esque "Back & Again", baggy "Natural Born Losers" and beat-free "Golden Hours" standing out.

Review: Moscoman is a musical world unto himself. He's turned out a riveting and wide ranging mix of killer dance floor singles in the last few year, but always with a sense of oddness and outside influence. Part fo that comes from his Israeli heritage, part from his back ground in rock, and part from a desire to aways evolve. His second full length is another marked shift in sound, with synth pop looming large over many tracks. A well curated selection of guests helps add vocal layers to an album that is, as the artist himself says, "happy sad" as it goes from breezy ditties to intoxicating percussion tracks via psyched out Middle Eastern disco.
