Review: Nick V's infamous Mona nights, a series of Parisian parties specialising in the deeper end of the house scale, have moved onto wax, and the man is quickly releasing a whole crew of talents onto the scene. One such character is Lea Lisa, a Parisian digger and DJ who is debuting here with her first solo EP, Walking La Lisa. Across the entirety of the A-side, the excellent "Intention" rings its infectious chords over a tough, chunky 4/4 groove that simply screams to be played loud and at peak time, while "Imagine That" gets two mix downs on the flip - the spacey, poetic 'Vox' mix, and the deeper, dubbier 'Bonux' mix which enters much more percussive territories. Some pretty banging trax for a debut!

Review: Having turned his deep house and vintage garage inspired Mona night into one of Paris' most hyped regular parties, Nick V has decided to launch the Mona Musique label. This first 12" features tracks from two largely unheralded talents: Jazzy Couscous and Menace contributor Hugo LX, and newcomer Tim 2T. The latter offers up "Rue 32", a thrilling late night bumper influenced by the likes of Roach Motel and Tedd Patterson. It's as authentic as they come, with short, soulful vocal samples jostling for position with throbbing, dark room riffs, and bombastic beats. While Hugo LX looks to the same period for inspiration, his "Drifting Away" is an altogether deeper, drowsier and woozier proposition.
